Liverpool’s hopes of Champions League qualification took a hit in midweek, as they were held to a draw away at Bournemouth. They head into the weekend in third place, but with the three teams behind them still having games in hand, Jürgen Klopp’s side will be desperately hoping to avoid any further slips — starting from Saturday’s encounter away at Stoke City’s bet365 Stadium.

It’s certainly a game the Merseysiders ought to win, with Stoke having been in some poor form of late. Mark Hughes’ men have succumbed to three straight league defeats, and slipped down into the bottom half of the table. They’re only eight points clear of the bottom three, and though a relegation scrap looks unlikely, they need to find some form from somewhere.
Stoke City will be without Stephen Ireland, who is yet to feature this season. Jack Butland, Ramadan Sobhi, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Jonathan Walters are all in doubt. On the sidelines for Liverpool are Danny Ings, Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, and Sadio Mané; Philippe Coutinho faces a late fitness test.
