A tactical switch from Arsène Wenger has precipitated a late-season resurgence at the Emirates, and Arsenal head into Tuesday’s encounter with Sunderland just three points off the top four with two games to play. Win their game-in-hand, and they’ll be just a point behind Liverpool. They’re still in with a great chance of maintaining their excellent Champions League qualification record.

They should certainly be able to see off Sunderland, who have won only twice since the turn of the year. They sit rock bottom of the table, and David Moyes’ side has already been mathematically relegated from the Premier League. Despite having pulled off a couple of dramatic late escapes in recent seasons, there’s no way back for them from here.

Arsenal will certainly be without Santi Cazorla; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Laurent Koscielny and Alexis Sánchez all face late fitness tests. Sunderland’s injury list is significantly longer: Paddy McNair, Duncan Watmore, Jan Kirchhoff and Bryan Oviedo are all certainly on the sidelines; Lee Cattermole, Steven Pienaar, Victor Anichebe and Jason Denayer are all early doubts.
