Cristiano Ronaldo scores hat-trick for Real Madrid vs. Atlético in Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo has done it again.

Cristiano Ronaldo may be getting older, but it’s only becoming harder to find superlatives with which to describe him. The Portuguese attacker has once again proven decisive in a huge game, netting a hat-trick in the first leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League semifinal first leg against their cross-town rivals Atlético.

The first goal was a fine towering header, with Atléti defender Stefan Savić standing no chance of matching Ronaldo in the air:

The second was even more spectacular, with Ronaldo making the most of a fortuitous bounce by lashing a sweet volley beyond Jan Oblak, nearly ripping a hole in the back of the net:

The third was the most simple of the three, coming as the culmination of a quick counter-attack after Atléti poured forward in search of an away goal:

It had been, by and large, a quiet performance from Ronaldo, but his remarkable knack of turning up when it matters most was as evident as ever. He did it in the quarterfinals against Bayern, and he’s done it again here. Is anyone brave enough to bet against him firing Real to yet another Champions League title?

Those in the United Kingdom can see the goals over on BT Sport’s Twitter.
