FULL TIME — Juventus 2-1 Monaco (4-1 aggregate)

This tie felt over once Juventus got an away goal in the first half last week, and they never looked back. They’re into the Champions League final, where they’ll likely take on Real Madrid.

Here’s a recap of the Champions League semifinal second leg match between Juventus and Monaco.

78’ — Monaco doing the only thing they can and going all-out attack. Striker Valerie Germain is on for defensive midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko.

73’ — Gonzalo Higuain is hurt after getting stomped on by Kamil Glik. No card for the Monaco defender, inexplicably. It looked like an intentional stomp.

69’ — GOAL! Juventus 2-1 Monaco (4-1 aggregate). Kylian Mbappe gets on the board with a tap-in. At least he gets to say he scored against Buffon.

And here comes Thomas Lemar, on for Bernardo Silva.

59’ — Unsurprisingly, it seems like the Dani Alves goal has made this last 45 minutes a formality. Monaco hasn’t quit, but they don’t have anywhere near the bite they did in the first half.

46’ — And we’re back. Monaco needs to make up four goals.

HALFTIME — Juventus 2-0 Monaco (4-0 aggregate)

So. That’s that settled.

45’ — GOAL! Juventus 2-0 Monaco (4-0 aggregate). Dani Alves finds the back of the net with a fantastically struck half-volley. A corner is cleared out to him at the top of the box, but he steps into a shot with confidence and thumps it into the back of the net. Ballgame.

44’ — Subasic is the only reason this isn’t 8-0 on aggregate. He makes a save on Paulo Dybala’s close range shot after an excellent pass by Dani Alves.

42’ — Falcao nearly taps in a cross. Chiellini beats him to the ball and clears it. He’s had a monster semifinal.

37’ — Higuain has a decent shot from the edge of the box saved. Monaco might be able to score three goals, but they won’t be able to do it while keeping Juventus off the scoreboard again.

33’ — GOAL! Juventus 1-0 Monaco (3-0 aggregate). Juventus go end-to-end off a great throw from Buffon to Alex Sandro. Eventually the ball is worked to Dani Alves, who crosses to Mandzukic. His header from close range is saved by Subasic, but Mandzukic pounces on the rebound and scores.

28’ — Monaco just barely hanging on now. Andrea Raggi blocks a shot by Pjanic.

25’ — Juve denied again. Mario Mandzukic picks up a pass and looks like he’s going to score from 15 yards, but he’s denied by his countryman Subasic.

22’ — Higuain almost gets Juve an insurance goal! He’s clear in and chips past Danijel Subasic, but Kamil Glik is there to clear off the line.

19’ — Gigi Buffon comes for a cross and whiffs. Good news for him is that Giorgio Chiellini doesn’t. The Juve center backs have been impeccable in this tie.

10’ — Trying to play on has not gone well, and Khedira exists. Claudio Marchisio is on in his place.

8’ — Sami Khedira has pulled up with a bit of a hamstring tweak. He’s trying to play on, though.

5’ — A few heart-stopping moments here for Juve. After a Miralem Pjanic turnover, Joao Moutinho has a shot that’s blocked. Kylian Mbappe pounces on the rebound and hits the post, but he’s ruled offside.

1’ — Kickoff! Monaco face a tall task against arguably the best defensive unit in the world, but they won a corner 30 seconds in. They certainly haven’t thrown in the towel.

Juventus put themselves in a commanding position in their Champions League semifinal tie last week, defeating AS Monaco 2-0 in the first leg. They’re big favorites to hold onto that lead on Tuesday and make it to the final.

The Monaco attack was seriously threatening in the opening minutes of last week’s match, but couldn’t beat Gianluigi Buffon. Eventually, Juve settled in and Gonzalo Higuain scored two crucial away goals. With a lead, the Bianconeri defense improved, and Monaco’s attack found it harder to create chances as the match wore on.

If there’s any good news for Monaco, it’s that they can improve their away goals standing and Juve can’t. Having two away goals is excellent for Juventus, but they’re also stuck on that number. A two-goal win for Monaco in Turin seems unlikely, but at least they know any two-goal win, regardless of the score, will do the trick for them.

This is a live blog. Refresh to see live updates above as the match goes on.
