Sweden play host to France in Stockholm on Friday in what is a crunch match at the top of their World Cup qualifying group. France head in as the pacesetters, but they’re just three points clear of Sweden after five matches. Should they lose, these sides would be tied at the top.

Sweden are hoping to upset France in Stockholm on Friday.

Though France haven’t lost a competitive match since they were beaten on home turf in the final of last summer’s European Championships, they’ve got reason to fear a Sweden side that have adapted well to life without the retired Zlatan Ibrahimović. They’ve won four of their last five matches, and only France themselves have beaten them in qualifying so far.
France will be without left-back Layvin Kurzawa, who underwent groin surgery in May. However, Benjamin Mendy and Lucas Digne are both more than capable of deputising for the PSG defender, and coach Didier Deschamps should be able to field something close to a full-strength team. Sweden are not believed to have any injury concerns whatsoever.
