The story of the CONCACAF Gold Cup so far has been that neither Mexico nor the United States have been playing at quite their full capability, but with the quarterfinals here, Mexico are looking to re-establish a higher level of play against Honduras.
Mexico vs. Honduras, 2017 Gold Cup: Start time, TV schedule, and live stream
Mexico haven’t quite been themselves in the Gold Cup, but they can get back on the right track in the quarterfinals.

Honduras weren’t especially impressive in the group stage, getting their only win by virtue of a forfeiture by French Guiana thanks to the smaller side playing an ineligible player, playing to a scoreless draw in the actual action on the pitch. In fact, Honduras failed to score a single goal during the group stage, losing to Costa Rica and drawing with Canada in their other two matches.
Mexico managed to coast through a pair of matches against minnows, with easy wins over El Salvador and Curacao in the group stage — but when they went up against a mid-tier CONCACAF side in Jamaica, they were held to a scoreless draw. They haven’t had quite the same edge that El Tri normally have on the pitch, and they’re going to need to get that edge back in a hurry if they’re going to win the Gold Cup this summer.
