Real Madrid are on the road once more, this time heading to Germany for some Champions League action.
Real Madrid do have points in the Champions League, in the form of their 3-0 win over APOEL in the group stage opener. They don’t really seem to have found their stride yet this season, though, as various injuries and suspensions to key players have left them a bit stop-start in terms of their momentum as a squad.
Borussia Dortmund haven’t had that problem, rolling their way through their Bundesliga foes with relative ease, including a combined 14-1 scoreline in their last three matches. They got manhandled by Tottenham Hotspur in London, though, and they’ll need to fight hard to get something out of this match against Madrid while they have the home field advantage so as to not risk falling behind in the standings of their Champions League group.
Borussia Dortmund have a number of important players hurt for this match, with all of Raphaël Guerreiro, André Schürrle, Sebastian Rode, Erik Durm, and Marcel Schmelzer looking to be unavailable with a laundry list of injuries. Mateo Kovačić, Karim Benzema, Theo Hernandez, and Marcelo are on the injury list for Real Madrid, leaving them a bit thin in midfield and at left back.
