This season has seen an impressive rise in quality from Liverpool, who have gone from a fringe contender for the top four spots and barely qualifying for the Champions League a year ago to a clear top team in England. But Liverpool are also a team on the rise, lead by a jaw-dropping attacking trident of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane. Add a diverse and deep midfield behind them and an improving defense, and this is a team that can make some noise in the Champions League knockout rounds. They’re unlikely to make a run to the final, but they can make a strong statement of their return to the European power structure with a good showing, starting with a hopeful win in Portugal on Wednesday night.
