FULL TIME — Juventus 0-3 Real Madrid

The hosts weren’t as poor as the score suggests, but it’s a score that all but knocks them out of the competition nonetheless. You can read a match report of the Champions League quarterfinal between Real Madrid and Juventus here.

90’ — Ronaldo misses another chance for his hat trick! He’s completely unmarked six yards out, but can’t handle a cross by Carvajal and puts it over the bar. And less than 30 seconds later, Keylor Navas makes a tough save on a shot by Higuain to preserve the clean sheet.

88’ — Ronaldo lays off for Mateo Kovacic, who’s replaced Modric, but the midfielder’s shot hits the crossbar.

86’ — Ronaldo just misses his hat trick, and he’s not happy about it. He has a chance to run on to the ball after a missed touch by Barzagli and tried to chip the ball over Buffon, but his shot was too high.

82’ — Real Madrid is focused much more on possession than threatening goal now that it has a three-goal lead. Progressing past the second leg is looking like a formality at this point, assuming Los Merengues don’t concede.

72’ — GOAL! — Juventus 0-3 Real Madrid

With 10 men, Juventus don’t stand a chance of stopping this Madrid attack. This time, Ronaldo plays provider, setting up Marcelo with a perfect pass. The Brazilian’s first touch takes him past Buffon, and he finishes off the play with a tap-in.

66’ — RED CARD! Paulo Dybala is sent off for Juventus

Dybala, who was on a yellow card, sticks a high boot into Carvajal. The referee has no choice but to send him off.

64’ — GOAL! — Juventus 0-2 Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo does it again at the end of a ridiculous scramble! The move starts with a mix-up between Chiellini and Buffon, letting Ronaldo get to the ball. He cuts back for Lucas Vazquez, who’d just come on for Benzema, and Buffon made a miraculous save. But Madrid recovered the ball, Carvajal swung a cross back in towards the top of the box, and Ronaldo rose up to meet the ball with a spectacular bicycle kick.

Even by Ronaldo’s standards, that was a sensational finish. One of the best of his career.

55’ — Sergio Ramos is booked for a tackle on Dybala, and that’s big news. That yellow card means he’s suspended for the second leg. The ensuing free kick takes a big deflection and only misses the goal by about a foot.

50’ — Ronaldo misses by inches! After a brilliant long run, Benzema left the ball for Ronaldo to shoot from an acute angle, and he drove it just wide of the far post.

46’ — Back for the second half, no substitutions for either team.

HALFTIME — Juventus 0-1 Real Madrid

Plenty to like from the home side, but not a good result so far. Juve has seven shots to Madrid’s three, but a lapse of concentration at the back from Juventus is the difference. Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t done much except score for the 10th consecutive Champions League match, which is a record.

45’ — Big penalty shout for Juventus, and not given. Dybala goes down while Casemiro challenging for the ball, but in the referee’s estimation, the Argentinian dove. He’s shown a yellow card, and replays indicate that the ref’s decision was correct.

39’ — Juventus is getting closer. Off a set piece, Chiellini has two chances to score. He whiffs on a header, then gets a chance to pounce on the rebound and can’t get a good shot off with his feet either. If he connects well either time, he scores.

37’ — Toni Kroos off the crossbar! The Madrid midfielder hit an absolute rocket from 25 yards that Buffon had no chance to save. Luckily for the Juventus keeper, it was just a couple of inches too high.

34’ — Mattia De Sciglio tries a shross and it nearly works out. But it’s just wide of the post, and no one was in the box to tap it into the goal.

26’ — Yellow card to Bentancur for hauling Casemiro down from behind. That means the Juventus midfielder will be suspended for the second leg.

22’ — Incredible save by Keylor Navas! Higuain draws a free kick, resulting in Dybala having a free header from 10 yards, but the Costa Rican makes a miraculous quick reaction save.

21’ — Real Madrid is looking excellent defensively, both with their press and with their back line shape on the rare occasion that Juventus breaks through the midfield line. Higuain is doing some excellent work, but Varane and Ramos have been a brick wall so far.

13’ — Best Juve chance yet, but nothing comes of it. Higuain runs down the left and cuts back towards the spot for Bentancur, but he doesn’t get much on his shot and he’s easily blocked.

12’ — Varane has an open header off a Kroos corner, but can’t keep it down. Big chance, the Frenchman looked upset with himself for not getting it on target.

9’ — Juventus has been lively since the goal, but hasn’t found a shot. That’s mostly thanks to Sergio Ramos, who’s made some excellent tackles.

4’ — GOAL! Juventus 0-1 Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo scores again! It’s his 13th goal in the competition this season, making him by far the leading scorer. Marcelo finds Isco down the left flank, he cuts back to the penalty spot, and no one marks Ronaldo. Poor defending by Juve, but Ronaldo pokes a perfect shot into the top corner with the outside of his foot.

1’ — Kickoff! It’s rainy in Turin, hopefully a slip isn’t what decides this one.

For an hour, Juventus matched Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League final. Then the floodgates opened, and Los Merengues ran out comfortable 4-1 winners. This season, the Old Lady has a chance to get some revenge in the quarterfinals.

Juve’s core remains from the previous campaign, though Leonardo Bonucci has departed, while some reinforcements have arrived. There will be some pressure on newcomers Mattia Di Sciglio, Rodrigo Bentancur and Douglas Costa on Tuesday, as they make the starting XI for Juventus.

While Madrid has struggled domestically, it’s putting together another excellent Champions League campaign. Zinedine Zidane’s side had little problem dispatching of Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round, and Cristiano Ronaldo is the competition’s leading scorer with 12 goals in just eight games.

This is a live blog and will update constantly throughout the game. The newest updates will appear on the top of the page.
