Bayern Munich got off to a rocky start in the first leg of its Champions League quarterfinal against Sevilla, conceding a surprising opener. But the Bavarians fought back, forcing an own goal and finding a second-half winner, and will now take a 2-1 lead home to Munich.

Despite some nervous moments, Bayern took care of business.

The home side took the lead in the 32nd minute, thanks to a lapse in concentration from the Bayern defense. No one closed down Sergio Escudero on the left side, and he played a cross towards the back post. Juan Bernat lost track of the man he should have been marking — Pablo Sarabia — and the Sevilla attacker finished from close range.
To add injury to insult, Arturo Vidal was hurt shortly afterwards, and had to be replaced by James Rodriguez. But Bayern was level by the 37th minute, thanks to some good fortune. What appeared to be an intended cross by Franck Ribery hit off Jesus Navas and dribbled over the line, with Sevilla goalkeeper David Soria unable to keep the ball out of the goal.
Bayern took control of the match in the second half, and eventually found its winner in the 68th minute. Ribery set it up with a high chip from the left flank to the back post, and Thiago Alcantara was completely unmarked when he dove for the ball and headed it past Soria.
