The Seattle Reign have quickly become one of the most entertaining teams in American soccer this season. This is true mainly for soccer reasons — their 11 goals in six games represents NWSL’s best scoring rate — but not only for soccer reasons.
Megan Rapinoe busts out a ‘Dame Tu Cosita’ goal celebration
Also, the Seattle Reign are REALLY GOOD.

Megan Rapinoe scored an absolute screamer to put Seattle Reign FC up, 2-0, on Sky Blue FC on Saturday night, but attention quickly turned to and stayed on her celebration. What is this dance?!
If you are an #Old and not up on meme culture, you might not have spotted Rapinoe’s attempt at the “Dame Tu Cosita” challenge. After the game, when asked by reporters from Ride of the Valkyries, Rapinoe confirmed that she’d seen El Chombo’s dancing green alien video on Instagram, courtesy of teammates Lydia Williams and Beverly Yanez.
(This is El Chombo’s second song to cross over into the meme-loving English-speaking internet. You may recognize his 2006 hit “Chacarron Macarron” from the various remixes it spawned if you were Extremely Online before the rise of social media.)
Now that we’ve caught up on what children are doing on the ‘gram, let’s watch some sick goals. Rapinoe’s first was worthy of the celebration.
But Rapinoe’s second goal might be even better. Watch her turn a helpless defender inside-out, then place a perfect shot into the top corner.
Jodie Taylor and Allie Long added goals of their own on either side of Rapinoe’s brace, guiding the Reign to a 4-1 win on the night. The Reign are quickly becoming appointment viewing for American soccer fans (and you can catch their next game right here on Saturday night).
