England fans were bloody chuffed after Eric Dier scored the winning PK against Colombia

They celebrated like they just found out Tesco’s was having a 75% sale on their favorite crisps.

England won their Round of 16 World Cup match against Colombia on Tuesday thanks to a nail-biting performance during penalty kicks, the first time they’ve ever won a World Cup game that went to PKs. It’s only the second time they’ve won an elimination game on penalties ever (against Spain during Euro 1996).

Suffice to say England fans were pretty stressed about the outcome as soon as things reached the penalty kicks stage, especially as they’d already let a win get away from them once after Colombia equalized with a goal in the 93rd minute. Penalty kicks and England fans get along about as well as motor oil on biscuits.

But England lived another day thanks to multiple misses by Colombia and a clinching penalty kick from Eric Dier.

You can feel the excitement pouring out of your screen from the fans in the stadium and the players themselves. Fans elsewhere didn’t disappoint though.

This video is just tension ... tension ... tension ... BALLINTHEBACKOFTHENET AND NOW THERE’S BEER EVERYWHERE.

In Croydon, things were just plain loud.

Here’s a very professional journalist trying to do a remote news hit in the middle of a bunch of cheering Brits and the fans making it as hard as possible for him to do his job.

Long after the cleaning crews were starting to clean up and the teams had left the pitch, England fans were still going strong in the stands.

A cricket match was happening at Old Trafford back in England, and the people covering it couldn’t keep their excitement contained.

In every one of these videos, the tension that leads up to the explosion of sound (which you know is coming) is by far the best part.

Congrats England fans, you finally broke the penalty kick curse!
