Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia’s Super Bowl defense got off on the right foot with an 18-12 win and cover in the team’s season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Since then, the Eagles are 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS, entering Thursday night’s game coming off of back-to-back losses to Tennessee and Minnesota.
After dominating last season with 28.6 points per game for and 18.4 points per game against, the Eagles have been pedestrian on both sides of the ball this year averaging 20.6 points for and 20.4 points against in 2018. A season-ending injury suffered by running back Jay Ajayi last Sunday only makes matters worse for the Eagles.
The Eagles have enjoyed plenty of success in East Rutherford with a 9-2 SU and 8-3 ATS record in their last 11 road games against the Giants per the OddsShark NFL Database.
New York Giants
New York entered the season with high hopes of a quick turnaround as Odell Beckham Jr. was back healthy from injury and Saquon Barkley was added with the second overall pick. Both of those players have been productive on the field, but it hasn’t translated to wins as the Giants are off to a 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS start.
Worse yet, the locker room seems to be at odds with Beckham Jr. making derogatory comments to the media about his teammates and coaches. The Giants are looking to snap out of a 3-12 SU and 6-9 ATS rut Thursday.
Thursday night’s total is set at 44 points. The OVER is 5-0 in the last five games in this head-to-head series.
The first five games of this season have not been what either Philadelphia or New York had in mind. Still, the top spot in the NFC East is there for the taking, and there would be no better time to get back in the win column than in this prime time rivalry game.
