Kansas City Chiefs
On a day when Patrick Mahomes and the offense weren’t at their best, the Chiefs proved that they could win in other ways in last Sunday’s 30-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs defense racked up five turnovers in the game, forcing one fumble and snagging four interceptions including one pick-six in the second quarter to go up 20-0.
Mahomes had his first rocky start of the season with two interceptions and no touchdown passes, but still managed to pass for 313 yards and rush for a touchdown in the win.
The Chiefs are 7-1 SU and ATS in their last eight games as a betting underdog including a 2-0 SU and ATS record as one so far this season per the OddsShark NFL Database.
New England Patriots
New England has shaken off a lackluster 1-2 SU and ATS start in which the offense averaged only 19 points per game with back-to-back 38-point efforts in blowout wins over Miami and Indianapolis. With those wins, the Patriots improved to 3-0 SU and ATS at home in 2018 and to 10-0 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games overall.
With four of the team’s next five games coming on the road after this Sunday night, the Patriots hope to enjoy the home cooking for one more week against one of the league’s top teams.
Sunday night’s total is set at 59.5 points. The OVER is 10-4 in Kansas City’s last 14 night games.
This game was built for prime time. Both offenses should have plenty of opportunities to make big plays, and Kansas City will be given a golden opportunity to prove how legitimate of a Super Bowl contender they are with a strong performance on the road against the defending AFC champions.
