Cowboys vs. Texans odds: Sunday night matchup has Houston as favorite

The Dallas Cowboys hope to move above .500 for the first time this season Sunday night at Houston, but the sportsbooks have the Texans listed as the betting chalk.

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-0 straight up and 2-1 against the spread in their last three games against the Houston Texans. The Cowboys will try to extend that winning streak to four games this Sunday night on the road.

Dallas is a 3-point road underdog in Houston at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last eight night game appearances the Cowboys are 7-1 SU.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys fended off a late comeback try from the Detroit Lions last Sunday, driving down the field to kick a game-winning field goal as time expired to escape with a 26-24 win. Ezekiel Elliot had a monster day with 152 rushing yards and 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.

With the victory, Dallas improved to 2-2 SU on the season while falling to 1-3 ATS. So far this season, the Cowboys are 2-0 SU at home and 0-2 SU on the road.

Dallas has enjoyed success on the road in October in recent seasons. The Cowboys are 7-4 SU and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 October road games and 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Houston Texans

Houston snapped a nine-game losing streak with its 37-34 overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. The offensive outburst was a nice change of pace for the Texans who had averaged only 14.4 points per game over their losing streak.

Deshaun Watson finished the day with 375 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. The Texans are an ugly 4-22-1 ATS in their last 27 night games.

Sunday night’s total is set at 45.5 points. The UNDER is 4-0 in the last four games between Dallas and Houston with the two teams averaging 36.5 combined points per game over that stretch.

The Cowboys and Texans meet in the regular season only once every four years, adding some weight to this in-state rivalry game. The path to the playoffs is already a tough one for these two teams and a loss on Sunday night would be devastating. With that in mind and Texas pride on the line, both teams should come into this one with their best effort.
