San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers actually looked the part of a team that belonged in prime time last week when they crushed the Oakland Raiders 34-3 on Thursday Night Football. Third string quarterback Nick Mullens made his NFL debut and went 16-for-22 with 262 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
Oakland’s uninspired effort made for one of the worst games of the 2018 season thus far, but the 49ers didn’t mind as they snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 2-6 SU and 3-7 ATS on the year.
San Francisco has historically fared well as a betting favorite against the Giants boasting an 11-3 SU and 8-5-1 ATS record in its last 14 games as a favorite against New York per the OddsShark NFL Database.
New York Giants
For as awful as the 1-7 SU and 3-5 ATS Giants have been, all but two of their losses have come by a touchdown or less. Eli Manning’s poor play under center has been the most maligned aspect of the team’s performance over the first half and rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta could take over as the team’s starter down the stretch should Manning fail to win this game.
New York is 4-2 ATS in its last six games on the road despite a 1-7 SU record in its last eight on the road.
Monday night’s total is set at 44.5 points. The UNDER is 6-1 in New York’s last seven night game appearances.
In a season chock full of terrible Monday Night Football games, this one between two teams with a combined record of 3-13 SU and 6-12 ATS may be the worst one yet. Those that wager on it will have to decide whether they want to back a Nick Mullens encore performance or Eli Manning in what could be his final stand.
