Lightning at Sabres OddsShark Matchup Report

Tampa Bay Lightning

Last season, the Lightning finished the regular season with the best record in the East going 54-23-5 and the top offense in the NHL averaging 3.54 goals per game.

Tampa Bay has picked up where it left off this season, once again leading the East in the standings and the league in scoring with 3.65 goals per game. The Lightning have scored at least four goals in each of their last five games and are 4-1 over that stretch.

In their last six games on the road, the Lightning are 5-1 per the OddsShark NHL Database. Tampa Bay is 17-8 in its last 25 road games against division rivals.

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo has finished in last place in the Atlantic Division four times in the last five years, and hasn’t advanced to the postseason since 2011. The Sabres are hoping that this is the season that things turn around, and they are off to a solid start to the season with a record of 9-6-2 including a current run of 6-2-2 over their last 10 games.

Offseason trade acquisition Jeff Skinner is off to a great start in a Sabres jersey, leading the team in scoring with 12 goals and seven assists. In the last 16 meetings between the Sabres and the Lightning, Buffalo is just 3-13 on the moneyline.

Tuesday night’s total is set at six goals. The OVER is 3-0-1 in Tampa Bay’s last four games overall.

The Sabres finished last season with the worst offense in the NHL averaging just 2.41 goals per game. That number is up to 3.06 in 2018-19, suggesting the team is taking a step in the right direction. To keep up with the best offense in the NHL, the Sabres will need their improved offense to be clicking on all cylinders this Tuesday night.
