Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights burst onto the scene last season with incredible speed and depth, redefining what an expansion team could be by advancing all the way to the Stanley Cup final. The offense ranked fifth in the NHL last season with 3.27 goals per game, but so far this season the goals have been a lot harder to come by.
Vegas ranks 30th in the NHL in scoring with only 2.29 goals per game thus far which has contributed to a disappointing 6-7-1 start.
Last season, the Knights went 10-4-2 against teams in the Atlantic Division per the OddsShark NHL Database. Vegas went 1-0-1 against Toronto, losing to the Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime when the two teams met in Toronto.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs kicked off their season with a 6-1 run before going on to lose four of their next six games. Toronto improved to 9-5 on the season and stayed perfect on the road with a 5-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins last Saturday, their first win since losing Auston Matthews to a shoulder injury.
Matthews has 10 goals and six assists in 11 games played this season, but the Maple Leafs will have to do without him for the next three weeks.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals. The UNDER is a perfect 9-0 in Toronto’s last nine games.
Both of these team’s entered the 2018/19 season with plenty of optimism. Vegas’ slow start and Matthews’ injury have been early bumps in the road, but both figure to be playoff teams when the dust eventually settles on the regular season. And Toronto may be a lot more than just a playoff team as the Maple Leafs are currently the betting favorite on the odds to win the Stanley Cup, going off at +600.
