Baltimore Ravens
Reports out of Baltimore’s camp during the offseason indicated that the Ravens drafting Lamar Jackson at the end of the first round lit a fire under quarterback Joe Flacco. Flacco reportedly entered this season in the best shape and form he’s ever been in, and the results showed on opening day as the veteran quarterback threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions in Baltimore’s 47-3 win over Buffalo last Sunday.
The Ravens are 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS over their last eight games.
The Bengals have been a consistent thorn in Baltimore’s side in recent seasons as the Ravens are just 2-7 SU and 3-6 ATS in their last nine games against Cincinnati per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Cincinnati Bengals
After being a model of regular season consistency from 2011 to 2015 with five straight playoff berths, the Bengals have fallen on hard times over the last two seasons with back-to-back nine-loss seasons.
Cincinnati is hoping to turn things around in 2018 and got the season off to a good start last week with a 34-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts. With the win, the Bengals improved to 3-0 SU and ATS over their last three games and 7-2 ATS over their last nine.
Thursday night’s total is set at 45 points. The UNDER is 6-1 in Cincinnati’s last seven night games.
Le’Veon Bell’s decision to let his holdout carry over into the regular season is very bad news for the Pittsburgh Steelers and very good news for the rest of the AFC North. The Ravens and Bengals are both suddenly far more likely to knock the Steelers off for the top spot in the division, and head-to-head battles like this one will help to establish the pecking order in the early stages of the season.
