The Penguins aimed to improve their blue line at the trade deadline, but the addition of Vancouver’s Erik Gudbranson is likely to do very little to remedy the team’s woes in the defensive zone.

Columbus added two big offensive weapons in Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel, a solid defenseman in Adam McQuaid and a back-up goaltender in Keith Kinkaid. The Blue Jackets are 7-3 over their last 10 games.
