Andy Murray is 5-3 against David Ferrer, is better on hard courts than the Spaniard and had a very partisan crowd behind him in his first match at the 2011 ATP World Tour Finals. The last meeting between these two players was on a hard court at Masters Shanghai, with Murray winning in straight sets. Despite having all of this on his side, Murray failed to live up to expectations on Monday, falling 4-6, 5-7 to Ferrer in the first match of Group A.
