Spain won its fifth Davis Cup title as Rafael Nadal beat Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (7-0), to give his country their third point in the best-of-five series. Nadal and David Ferrer went undefeated in their singles matches, though Argentina’s doubles team of David Nalbandian and Eduardo Schwank beat Feliciano Lopez and Fernndo Verdasco for the country’s only point of the final.
Davis Cup 2011 Finals, Spain Vs. Argentina: Rafael Nadal Wins Davis Cup For Spain
Rafael Nadal beat Juan Martin Del Potro to clinch Spain’s fifth Davis Cup title in the past 11 years, and third in the last four, putting the Spaniards up 3-1 over Argentina.

It was Spain’s third Davis Cup in the past four years as the team of Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, two top-10 players, has overwhelmed the rest of the world. All five of their Davis Cups have come since 2000, and the Spaniards have become the clear dominant force in the international men’s tennis scene.
The only hiccup in their four-year run was a loss in the finals last year to Novak Djokovic and Serbia, and Djokovic used that performance — a big win on Sunday over Nadal, no less — to propel him to one of the greatest seasons in the sport’s history this year. Could this mean Nadal reclaims the world No. 1 ranking from the Djoker in 2012?
