Nadal and David Ferrer went undefeated in their singles matches, though Argentina’s doubles team of David Nalbandian and Eduardo Schwank beat Feliciano Lopez and Fernndo Verdasco for the country’s only point of the final.

It was Spain’s third Davis Cup in the past four years as the team of Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, two top-10 players, has overwhelmed the rest of the world. All five of their Davis Cups have come since 2000, and the Spaniards have become the clear dominant force in the international men’s tennis scene.
The only hiccup in their four-year run was a loss in the finals last year to Novak Djokovic and Serbia, and Djokovic used that performance — a big win on Sunday over Nadal, no less — to propel him to one of the greatest seasons in the sport’s history this year. Could this mean Nadal reclaims the world No. 1 ranking from the Djoker in 2012?
