Milos Raonic was well on his way to being the story of the young year in tennis: the cannon-serving Canadian had blasted his way to the final against fellow boomer Andy Roddick, and pushed the veteran American to a fifth match point in the final set of the final at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships. Then Roddick hit a magnificent diving shot that might be the best winner we’ll see in tennis this year.

↵That diving forehand passing shot was the winner that earned Roddick both the victory in the match and the tournament championship. And though he paid dearly for it in the moment, with a bloody elbow that spurted crimson almost immediately, Roddick’s probably going to be rewarded with thousands, maybe millions, of YouTube views.
↵Meanwhile, I’m going to go try to hit that shot. I’ll fail each and every one of the first 1,000 attempts, but I’ll at least have the sense to mummify my elbow beforehand.
