Rafael Nadal Injury: MRI Shows No Damage, Top-Seed Will Continue At Wimbledon 2011

After suffering what appeared to be a foot injury in his 2011 Wimbledon Round of 16 match against Juan Martin Del Potro on Monday, an MRI has revealed that world No. 1 tennis player and defending Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal has suffered no damage to his foot and that he will be healthy for his quarterfinal matchup against the last remaining American in the tournament, Mardy Fish.

Though he appeared to have some discomfort in the middle of his match yesterday, which was possibly the root cause of his one lost set, Nadal was able to continue and eventually defeat Del Potro in four sets. Nadal underwent the MRI scan on Tuesday morning and after having it come up negative, he will practice in the afternoon.

If Nadal is healthy, he’ll be heavily favored to defeat Fish, his quarterfinal opponent. Nadal has defeated Fish on many occasions, including some easy straight set victories on grass.
