French Open 2011 Results: Rafael Nadal Downs Andy Murray In Straight Sets To Advance To Roland Garros Final
No. 1 Rafael Nadal def. No. 4 Andy Murray, 6-4 7-5 6-4. Say this for Murray, who was expected to fall in straight sets to the preening peacock of clay-court action: Fall in straight sets he did, but he gave Nadal a match, and he did it on one good leg. Rafa’s not playing perfect tennis himself, either; several costly mistakes kept the Scot from falling too far behind. When playing on his level on his strongest surface, however, opponents of Nadal’s can never play less than perfect tennis.
So off trudges Murray to rest his ankle, his groin, and every other injured body part for Wimbledon. Rafa now awaits the winner of the Roger Federer-Novak Djokovic match, currently airing live on NBC and streaming for free on NBCSports.com. Live score updates will be available, as usual, on the tournament’s official website.
