Things went poorly for Victoria Azarenka in the first set of her 2011 Wimbledon semifinal, as she was broken twice and completely dominated by Petra Kvitova, falling 6-1 in that set. In the second set, she completely turned the tables, and she’s leveled the match at one set all, forcing a deciding third set.

Azarenka, like Kvitova, got an early break in the set and cruised to a 6-3 win, forcing a third. However, while it was encouraging to see her win the set and force a third, she doesn’t exactly look like she’s going to turn the tables completely and run over Kvitova. After getting her break, she appeared to really put on the cruise control, content to keep the ball in play and hope Kvitova made mistakes. That happened enough that she was able to hold serve throughout the rest of the set, but it wasn’t exactly indicative of someone who has the killer instinct to turn a 1-6 first set loss into a match win.
