After an odd, back and forth, roller coaster of a match, No. 8 seed Petra Kvitova has advanced to the 2011 Wimbledon final after recording a three set upset win over Victoria Azarenka, winning by a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. She lost a bit of her edge and allowed Azarenka break her to get back into the match, but she was the much better player in both the first and third sets and she’s moved into the final as a result.

Azarenka made quite a few unforced errors in the match, so it was a fitting end to the match when she gave the win to Kvitova by committing a double fault on match point. All in all, the match had quite a few errors and wasn’t necessarily of the highest quality. Kvitova was clearly the better player, though, and deserves to be in the final.
She now awaits the winner of the second semifinal, which will be played by Maria Sharapova and Sabine Lisicki today on Centre Court.
