U.S. Open 2011: Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick Cruise In Straight Sets

The marquee matches of Sunday’s U.S. Open action saw No. 2 Rafael Nadal and No. 21 Andy Roddick cruise into the fourth round. Nadal topped Argentina’s David Nalbandian 7(7)-6(5), 6-1, 7-5, while Roddick downed Julien Benneteau of France 6-1, 6-4, 7(7)-6(2).

Nadal will get Gilles Muller of Luxembourg next. You’ll hope Nadal recovers from whatever this was in time, or he may need to have the match relocated to his lair beneath the press conference table, which you’ll be impressed to learn is regulation size.

Roddick draws No. 5 David Ferrer. Also, Roddick won, so he must be doing everything right and should continue doing the things he did that allowed him to win. If he loses, he’ll need to remember what he did right and start doing those things instead.
