The 2011 U.S. Open will finish a little bit later than expected thanks to the inclimate weather that delayed action this week.

The Women’s semifinals were originally scheduled to be played on Friday, but because of the backlog of matches brought on by this week’s wet weather, the women’s final four has been shifted to Saturday night. And the original Saturday night final has been moved to 4:00 p.m. EDT Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Men’s semifinals remain as scheduled for Saturday but the Men’s final is rescheduled for Monday, September 12, at 4:00 p.m. ET

World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and three-time champion Serena Williams cruised into the semifinals, setting up a marquee semifinal on Saturday night. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Samantha Stosur will now appear in her third career Grand Slam semifinal when she takes on upstart 92nd-ranked German Angelique Kerber.

On the men’s side, No. 2 Rafael Nadal will take on No. 21 Andy Roddick Friday for the right to advance to the semifinals while No. 4 Andy Murray battles No. 28 John Isner for the same. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will take the court later Thursday in their attempts to advance into the semis as well.
