Heineken Open 2012 Scores And Results: Quarterfinal Play Suspended Due To Rain

The men’s singles quarterfinals were scheduled to be completed on Thursday in the 2012 Heineken Open, but rain has halted play with only two of the matches completed.

In the first quarterfinal match, Philipp Kohlscreiber became the tournament’s first semifinalist with his upset victory over Nicolas Almagro. Before rain cancelled Thursday play, unseeded Belgian Olivier Rochus defeated French qualifier Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4) to advance to the semifinals, where he will play Kohlscreiber on Friday.

Fernando Verdasco was up a break on Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, leading 3-1 before play was halted. They will resume their match Friday morning and will play the day’s first match. Also playing on Friday is defending champion and top seed David Ferrer, who will take on Alejandro Falla. The winners of the two delayed quarterfinals could end up playing twice in one day, as the semifinals are still currently scheduled to be played after the quarterfinals are completed on Friday.
