Australian Open 2012 Scores And Results: Juan Martin Del Potro, Nicolas Almagro Advance

In the first results of the first round of the Australian Open, both (11) Juan Martin Del Petro and (10) Nicolas Almagro advanced in four sets.

Del Potro, the 2009 US Open champion, is the only player outside of the trio of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic to win a major since 2005.

He won in four sets 2-6, 6-2, 7-4, 6-4 over Adrian Mannarino of France.

Almagro, a 26-year old from Spain, won in four sets 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-5 over Lukasz Kabot of Poland.

The other ranked players currently playing are (8) Mardy Fish of the United States, (7) Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic and (18) Feliciano Lopez of Spain.

The four top seeds in the Open, Djokvic, Nadal, Federer and Andy Murray of England, are not scheduled to play until Monday.
