In Day 6 competition at the 2012 Australian Open, No. 2 women’s tennis player Maria Sharapova had another strong showing to advance to the fourth round.
Sharapova defeated the No. 30-ranked German player Angeligue Kerber in straight sets of 6-1, 6-2. Kerber looked overmatched by the dominant Russian in both sets, perhaps to a greater extent than the final score would indicate. Sharapova had one ace in the match, while Kerber had none.
