The last big tournament in the mens’ and womens’ game has not yet ended, but the next big tournament in the clay court season is already getting started. As the mens’ and womens’ finals are wrapping up at the Madrid Masters, the Rome Masters is kicking off. A combination of qualifying and first round matches are being played in the 2012 Italian Open, both in the mens’ and womens’ draws.
Italian Open 2012: Rome Masters Begins On Sunday
The 2012 Italian Open begins on Sunday with some mens’ and womens’ singles matches in one of the last clay court tournaments before the French Open.
Juan Carlos Ferrero and young Canadian Milos Raonic both play first round matches on the first day of the tournament, while American Sam Querrey is also in action. On the womens’ side, Americans Slone Stephens and Varvara Lepchenko are in action.
