Mardy Fish has been out of action since April, and isn’t playing at the French Open. Citing fatigue, he pulled out of the Davis Cup and other tournaments over the last two months. The USTA called Fish’s issues a “minor health scare” and the details of his health problems weren’t available until recently, when he revealed that he had surgery to correct a heart problem.
Mardy Fish Underwent Heart Surgery To Correct Arrhythmia
Mardy Fish underwent a heart procedure last Wednesday and plans to return to competitive tennis at Wimbledon.

After losing in the Sony Ericsson Open, Fish woke up in the middle of the night with his heart beating 170-180 beats per minute. Said Fish, in an interview with USA Today, “I was completely panicking ... I thought I was going to die.”
Last week, Fish underwent a two-hour electrophysiology procedure to pinpoint the problem with his heart arrhythmia. His doctors feel that his issues are now behind him after the procedure, and that Fish can resume light training later in the week. He’s hoping to return to competitive tennis at Wimbledon or immediately before the year’s third grand slam tournament, possibly at the Queens Club tune-up tournament.
