Wimbledon 2012 Scores: Americans Andy Roddick, Brian Baker Advance

It’s been a good day for Americans so far at Wimbledon, with two men winning their second round matches this afternoon following Serena Williams’ victory early in the day. Andy Roddick and Brian Baker both progressed in straight sets on Thursday.

Baker had no problem with Jarkko Nieminen, winning his match 6-0, 6-2, 6-4. He finished with just eight unforced errors and was not broken in the match. Roddick was tested a bit more by Bjorn Phau, who pushed him to a tiebreak in the second set, but he still won comfortably, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.

Crowd favorite Andy Murray also advanced to the third round, defeating Croatian Ivo Karlovic 7-5, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6. Both players won more than 80 percent of points on their big first serves, but Karlovic couldn’t overcome his 42 unforced errors to Murray’s eight.
