The 2012 Western & Southern Open continues Tuesday from Cincinnati, Ohio. A few notable Americans will be on the court Tuesday including Serena and Venus Williams. On the men’s side, Andy Roddick will play his first-round matchup as well.
2012 Western & Southern Open: Williams Sisters, Andy Roddick Among Those In Action Tuesday
Serena Williams, fresh off her two Olympic gold medals, will play Eleni Daniilidou in the second round. Williams received a bye through the first round of the tournament. She is the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Her sister, Venus, will play No. 12 seed Maria Kirilenko in the first round. Venus returned to action in the Olympics, winning the women’s doubles gold with Serena.
On the men’s side of the draw, Andy Roddick will open play with his first-round match against Jeremy Chardy. This is Roddick’s first ATP tournament since he won the BB&T Atlanta Open July 22. Roddick is the No. 16 seed in the tournament and he will play the unseeded Chardy, who is from France. No. 10 seed Mardy Fish will also open first-round play with his match against Feliciano Lopez.
