2012 Western & Southern Open Daily Match Preview: Roger Federer, Serena Williams Look To Move On In Cincinnati

The Western & Southern Open continues on Friday with another full slate of matches on four separate courts. No. 1 seed Roger Federer will be in action again, taking on American Mardy Fish, who defeated Radek Stepanek in straight sets on Thursday. Fish has had a tumultuous summer, missing a lengthy stretch after experiencing an irregular heartbeat in Miami this spring.

Fish returned at Wimbledon and made some noise before bowing out in the fourth round. An ankle injury hobbled him after Wimbledon, but his form does seem to be returning as the season’s final Slam approaches. Facing Federer, however, will be a tall task for one of the best American players on the ATP. They will play in the first match of the evening session on Center Court. Also on the men’s side, No. 2 ranked Novak Djokovic will highlight the Center Court action in the afternoon when he faces Marin Cilic.

Following Djokovic on Center Court will be Serena Williams, who continues to bulldoze the competition this summer. After an early exit at Roland Garros, Williams responded with a win at Wimbledon and then absolutely breezed through the competition in the Olympics. She’ll face German Angelique Kerber while No. 1 seed Aga Radwanska will playing in the evening and get the winner of the morning match between Li Na and Johanna Larsson.

The complete men’s scoreboard can be found here, with the women’s scoreboard here. You can also find somewhat of a schedule here -- times aren’t listed anywhere, but play begins at 11 a.m. ET for the men and 11:30 a.m. ET for the women.
