The first round of the 2012 New Haven Open begins Sunday, with a field that features four women currently ranked in the top 10 of the world rankings.

The 2012 New Haven Open begins Sunday with first round action from the Connecticut Tennis Center.
The tournament field will have 18 players who participated in the 2012 London Olympics including Americans Christina McHale and Sloane Stephens. Agnieszka Radwanska, the current No. 3 player in the world, is the highest ranked player in the tournament.
The qualifying rounds will begin Friday, August 17, with first round play beginning Sunday, August 19. The first round will continue through Monday with second round matches scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. When the tournament reaches the quarterfinals on Thursday, television coverage will begin on ESPN2.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and singles final will all be broadcast on ESPN2. The singles final is scheduled to begin Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN2 from 3 to 5 p.m. ET.
