U.S. Open 2012 Tennis Scores: Victoria Azarenka Defeats Anna Tatishvili In Two Sets

Victoria Azarenka, who is currently the world’s top-ranked woman, defeated unranked Anna Tatishvili on Sunday evening in two sets. Using an elite backhand and solid serve to her advantage, Azarenka won the match in two sets, 6-2 and 6-2.

Azarenka hit 22 winners in the fourth-round match, eight more than her opponent. Her serve topped out at 103 mph and she recorded three aces. Each player had 24 unforced errors, which was mostly a product of great back-line play from both competitors.

With the win in-hand, Azarenka will now prepare for Samantha Stosur in the quarterfinals. Stosur is the seventh-ranked woman in the world right now and won her fourth round match in two sets over Laura Robson.
