U.S. Open 2012: Novak Djokovic Vs. David Ferrer Semifinal Postponed Until Sunday

The U.S. Open semifinal match between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer was suspended on Saturday night due to a severe weather forecast in New York. The match is scheduled to resume tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ET.

The decision to suspend play came while still in the first set. The four-seed Ferrer of Spain had built a 5-2 first set lead on Djokovic, who is the tournament’s two-seed.

Djokovic advanced to the semifinals in straight sets over Juan Martin del Potro. On the other hand, Ferrer survived a fifth-set tiebreaker against Janko Tipsarevic in the quarterfinals. The winner will advance to the finals to face Andy Murray. The Olympic gold medalist defeated Tomas Berdych earlier on Saturday with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 victory.
