Australian Open 2013 schedule and TV coverage for Monday’s matches

Maria Sharapova and Novak Djokovic get things started on Day 1 of the tournament.

The 2013 Australian Open is about to get underway, and the tournament features Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and others all in action. Things kick off on Monday in Australia, which means for fans stateside, the Australian Open schedule begins on Sunday.

Sharapova is the No. 2 seed in the women’s singles draw, and her match with Olga Puchkova is one of the highlights from Day 1. Television coverage of Sharapova’s match comes via ESPN2, starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Other matches in from Day 1 include men’s No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic taking on Paul-Henri Mathieu on the main court following Sharapova’s match and another women’s singles match. No. 25 Venus Williams faces Galina Voskoboeva at 7 p.m. ET, and fourth-seeded David Ferrer will see Olivier Rochus, with that match starting not before 1 a.m. ET.
