Day 4 of the Australian Open begins Thursday in Melbourne, with the bottom half of the men’s and top half of the women’s draw playing their second-round matches. Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro will all be in action, with Federer opening the evening session at Rod Laver Arena against Nikolay Davydenko. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in Melbourne, or 3 a.m. ET in the US. Del Potro will play Benjamin Becker at the same time on the Margaret Court Arena.

The Australian Open continues in Melbourne, with both Roger Federer and Serena Williams playing second-round matches on Day 4.

Murray will play during the day session in the second match at Hisense Arena. Murray rolled to a quick straight sets victory in his first-round match, and he’s not expected to face much resistance in the second round against Joao Sousa. Aussie Bernard Tomic will also play during the day session, taking center court for the third match at Laver Arena. Tomic won his first ATP title last weekend, and he’s attempting to advance deep in the year’s first slam in his homeland. Tomic will face Daniel Brands on Day 4, with a win setting up a likely third-round match against Federer.
On the women’s side, No. 3 Serena Williams and No. 1 Victoria Azarenka will play in the first two matches of the day at Laver. Azarenka will play Eleni Daniilidou first at 11 a.m. local (7 p.m. ET), and Serena will follow against Garbine Muguruza. Petra Kvitova will wrap the day at Laver, playing in the evening session after Federer’s match concludes. She faces Laura Robson of Great Britain.
The Tennis Channel and ESPN2 will once again carry the coverage in the US, coming on the air Wednesday evening for the start of the Day 4 matches. Tennis Channel will broadcast from 7 to 11 p.m. ET, while ESPN2’s coverage will run from 11 p.m. through to 7 a.m. ET Thursday morning.
