Second-seeded Maria Sharapova will take on 19th-seeded Ekaterina Makarova in the women’s quarterfinals of the 2013 Australian Open.

Sharapova has not been challenged thus far in the tournament, failing to drop a single set in four matches. In fact, the 25-year-old has lost just five games all tournament, with four of those coming when she beat 25th-seeded Venus Williams 6-1, 6-3 in the third round. Sharapova handled Kirsten Flipkens with ease in the fourth round, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Sharapova is in search of her fifth Grand Slam singles title and her second Australian Open championship. She won the Aussie Open back in 2008, defeating Ana Ivanovic in the final after not losing a single set all tournament.

Makarova has had a little tougher time en route to the quarterfinals. She has only lost one set in the tournament, but most of her matches have been pretty competitive. Katarova came back from one set down in the third round to beat 11th-seeded Marion Bartoli before defeating fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-4 in the fourth round.
