No. 2-seeded Maria Sharapova will square off against sixth-seeded Li Na in the semifinal round on Day 11 at the 2013 Australian Open.

Sharapova defeated No. 19 seed, Ekaterina Makarova of Russia, 6-2, 6-2, and made quick work of her fellow countrywoman. Na defeated No. 4 seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 7-5, 6-3 to make her way into the match. Na will seek to come away with her first Australian Open victory after reaching the final in 2011. She won the French Open that same year to claim her one and only Grand Slam title.

Sharapova is seeking her fifth Grand Slam title and will have to defeat Na, who is strong on the hard surface. Her last came in 2012 when she won the French Open. She has 27 career titles and a career record of 472-115, good for an 80.41 winning percentage. She won a silver medal in the 2012 London Olympic games last summer.

The first women’s semifinal will be the second match of the day at Rod Laver Arena, and will not start before 9:30 p.m. ET Wednesday night in the States. ESPN 2 will broadcast both women’s semifinals matches on Wednesday night.
