The United States advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 Davis Cup on Sunday after winning three out of five matches against Brazil. Sam Querrey won both of his singles matches against Thomas Belluci and Thiago Alves. John Isner couldn’t top Belluci, but he defeated Alves in straight sets for what would prove to be a pivotal win.

It came down to the fifth match, but the United States advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 Davis Cup with a win over Brazil.

The best match of the round was the doubles match between the American team Mike and Bob Bryan, and Brazilian team Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares. The American team entered the match ranked No. 1 in the world, but the Brazilian team was able to survive a five-set match, 7-6(6), 6-7(7), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Team USA will play Serbia in the quarterfinals in April. Serbia took three of five matches over Belgium to advance. Novak Djokovic won handily over Olivier Rochus, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
