Day one of the 2013 Sony Open is winding down after plenty of action. Round one for the ATP side will continue into Thursday, so the top seeds are still a day away, but there’s always plenty of young players looking to make that next jump while the stars of yesterday attempt to make a comeback.
Sony Open Tennis 2013 results: James Blake, Nikolay Davydenko victorious
Both James Blake and Nikolay Davydenko were among those victorious in round one of the 2013 Sony Open.

One such star, Lleyton Hewitt, was victorious on the day. He made the tournament as a wildcard and cruised past Joao Sousa of Portugal, 6-1, 7-6(3). He’s hoping to make an impact after a lackluster start to his 2013 campaign (a 6-5 record).
The other big names on the day were Nikolay Davydenko and James Blake. Davydenko had an odd matchup against Paolo Lorenzi. The Russian managed to take the first set, 6-0, but fell in the second set, 2-6. He then surged back to dominate the third set, 6-0.
Davydenko was the winner of the Sony Open in 2008, besting then-World No. 2 Rafael Nadal. He hasn’t had much success of late, but that could turn around with this tournament.
Blake was also victorious on Wednesday. In the tournament as a wild card, Blake halted Ryan Harrison, winning relatively easily, 6-2, 6-2.
