The men’s quarterfinals were plenty exciting on Wednesday, and the winners will take a day off while the women’s semifinals play out on Thursday. The high seeds on the women’s side have been decimated to this point, with Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and all of the top 10 seeds outside of No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska eliminated.

Then again, that sets up some rather unpredictable matchups in the semfinals. Centre Court will play host to both semifinal matches, starting with No. 15 Marion Bartoli taking on No. 20 Kirsten Flipkens. Following that, No. 23 Sabine Lisicki, who bested the aforementioned Williams, will take on Radwanska, the fourth seed.
This is the first time the semifinals of a Grand Slam event have been without an American or Russian woman since 1998. The final four wasn’t expected by any means, but there’s no lack of talent here.
Bartoli has yet to drop a set thus far, and is favored against Flipkens, who doesn’t have much experience this far into a Grand Slam. Radwanska is looking for her opportunity to shine without Williams, Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka in the fold. She made the finals at Wimbledon in 2012, but fell to Williams. That said, Lisicki is playing incredibly well and many consider her the favorite, despite being the lowest-seeded player remaining.
ESPN will carry television coverage of the semifinals. Their coverage kicks off at 8 a.m. ET on their flagship network and runs through 1 p.m., though it will go over if there are still matches being played.
