The first matches of the second round in the women’s draw are on the schedule for Day 3 of the U.S. Open, as is Andy Murray, the defending champion playing in his first Grand Slam since winning Wimbledon in July.

Murray, the No. 3 seed, will open the night session in Arthur Ashe stadium at 7 p.m. ET against Michael Llodra, followed by 15th-seeded Sloane Stephens, who has turned into a crowd darling, playing in the second round against Urszula Radwanska.

Earlier on Arthur Ashe, Serena Williams will play in the second round, trying to follow up on a performance so dominant, her opponent needed a hug. The world’s No. 1 player will take on Kazakh Galina Voskoboeva. Preceding her match in the day session in tennis’ largest stadium is No. 6 Juan Martin Del Potro, the 2009 champ, against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the first round, and China’s Na Li against Sofia Arvidsson.

Venus Williams, who is trying to continue her run in what could be one of her last U.S. Opens, is one of the other notables in action Wednesday. No. 9 seed Stanislas Wawrinka is up against Radek Stepanek in what should a terrific early match, and Americans Jamie Hampton, Brian Baker and Bethanie Mattek-Sands also have matches.

Finally, James Blake, who announced that the U.S. Open would be his last tournament, will play one of the tallest players on tour, Ivo Karlovic, in Louis Armstrong stadium no earlier than 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday’s television coverage will begin on Tennis Channel at 11 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m. ESPN2 will begin its broadcast at 1 p.m. with coverage finally wrapping up at 11 p.m. In addition to the television coverage, there will be extensive online streaming available from WatchESPN and U.S. Open Live. Radio coverage will be available from U.S. Open.org Radio, beginning at 11 a.m.

The complete match schedule can be found at USOpen.org.
