The world’s No. 2 bested Ana Ivanovic at the U.S. Open on Tuesday, advancing to a quarterfinal matchup against Daniela Hantuchova.

U.S. Open women’s No. 2 seed Victoria Azarenka advanced to the quarterfinals on Tuesday, besting No. 13 and former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The match was initially postponed from Monday due to rain, which is why Azarenka is playing the same day as two quarterfinal matchups.

Vika struggled early in the first set, but managed to comfortably take the second before a contested third. She was serving for the win at 5-3 when Ivanovic fought off two match points and ultimately broke her to reach 4-5 in the third. Unfortunately for Ivanovic, Azarenka broke her right back in the next game, relying on a fourth match point to seal the win.

Azarenka will now meet Daniela Hantuchova in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Hantuchova bested Alison Riske in three sets to make it into the quarterfinals on Monday. She is unseeded for this tournament, though she was previously a top-10 ranked player.

On Tuesday, the quarterfinals are already getting underway as No. 5 Na Li and No. 24 Ekaterina Makarova took the court following Azarenka’s victory. Tuesday night, No. 1 Serena Williams will play in quarterfinal action against No. 18 Carla Suarez Navarro. No. 10 Roberta Vinci will take on unseeded Flavia Pennetta in the fourth quarterfinal match on Wednesday.
