Andy Murray nearly missed the ball. Missed it. No. 3 tennis player in the world, defending Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion, and he swung his racket and did not hit the ball with the part of the racket with the strings on it.

Normally you try to hit the ball with the metal strings on your racket, but Andy Murray managed to win a huge point by doing not that.


Sure, sometimes players hit lob shots, but Murray’s just trying to hit a forehand. You can even see him go like “dawwwwwwwwww fiddlesticks” after the shot.

Then, he realizes it will land in bounds and far enough back that opponent Denis Istomin can’t even make a nice shot out of it, and... wins the point?
The point broke Istomin to allow Murray to win in the next game. Some guys get all the breaks.
